I started building Miru a year ago as a web app, born out of something that has always frustrated both me and a lot of makeup lovers: nothing is more annoying than when your moisturizer or primer just don’t get along with your foundation, and the result is foundation pilling off your face.
It’s also one of the questions I get most in my DMs: which products actually work together, and how to keep your foundation from pilling.
So the idea became simple: scan your moisturizer or primer, then your foundation, and see whether the two are a good match based on their ingredients and how they interact.
Between this and my other full-time job, I’ve worked on Miru slowly but surely, until finally launching it with a few extra features I’m really happy with. One for checking whether your products fit together. One for scanning a single product to understand what’s actually in it and how to use it. And one for finding budget matches, similar products at a friendlier price, something that came straight from the countless DMs asking if I had cheaper alternatives to the products I use.
Hopefully you feel all of that when you use it, and Miru helps you as much as it’s helped me :)
